Marilyn Herdís Mellk er íslensk/amerísk fædd 1961 og hefur búið á Íslandi síðan 1981. Hún stundaði listnám við California College of Arts and Crafts (núna California College of the Arts) og Myndlista- og handíðaskóla Íslands þaðan sem hún útskrifaðist 1987 úr grafíkdeild. Hún hefur tekið þátt í mörgum sýningum og er ein af myndlistarmönnunum sem reka saman Gallerí Korpúlfsstaðir í Reykjavik. Marilyn er félagi í Íslensk grafík og Sambandi íslenskra myndlistarmanna. www.umm.is, www.mhm-art.com
Sjálf segir hún um sýninguna: „Krossgötur í lífi mínu hafa breytt áherslum mínum í listinni og gefið mér frelsi til að feta nýja stigu. Að vera hluti af náttúrunni sem breytist og þróast stöðugt hefur haft flæðandi áhrif á list mína. Þessi landslagsverk sem ég hef unnið að síðustu fjögur árin eru ætingar, olíuverk og blönduð tækni.”
Marilyn Herdís Mellk is an Icelandic/American born in 1961 and has lived in Iceland since 1981. Marilyn studied art at the California College of Arts and Crafts and the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts where she graduated in 1987 from the printmaking department. She is a member of the artist-run co-operative Gallery Korpulfsstadir in Reykjavik, has held solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Iceland, mainland Europe and the U.S.A. She is also a member of the Icelandic Printmakers Assocition, ÍG, and the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists, SIM. www.mhm-art.com
This is what she sais about the exhibit: “Finding myself at a crossroads has changed the emphasis in my art and allowed me the freedom to explore new paths. I find calm in nature, and when things change I go with the flow. These landscapes that I have been working on over the past four years are etchings, oils and mixed media“.
